Which Shoe Will Debut in the Philippines

One evidence that there is a running boom in the country is the coming of new brands for running in the Philippines.  We have seen new labels like Newton and Vivobarefoot in shelves of running stores.  Brooks and K-Swiss also made exciting comebacks.  It is not just for running shoes but also for sports watches like Soleus.

I heard a new brand of running shoes will be coming in the market very soon.  Which of the following brands could it be?

Somnio Shoes

Somnio Shoes prides themselves as the most customizable shoes.  Founded by a small group/company in La Selva Beach, Santa Cruz County, California, USA, Somnio aims to produce products that attend to the user’s needs and give them the best services they can offer.

Somnio is founded on the principle that shoes should adapt to the individual and improve biomechanics. Every person is different and they believe that every pair of shoes should be different, too, so they built a platform for making that possible.

Somnio Running shoes have adjustable foam pads and different inserts and wedges to best fit the user’s biometrics.  With over 11,000 different combinations it may be the future of the shoe industry. They launched three (3) models of running shoes that are customizable and can alter the runner’s different foot framework. There may be a time where shoe shopping consists of picking what best fits the type of foot you have as well as your gait length and not just the size of your shoe from toe to heel.

Some popular shoes from Somnio are Self Control 2.0 and Pacemaker 2.0.  The Somnio Nada is their first minimalist shoe.  Check out their product lines at somniorunning.com.

Under Armour

Under Armour is an apparel company based in the United States, best known for its introduction of form-fitting, moisture-wicking clothing designed to be worn under sportswear. Founder Kevin Plank, a football player with the University of Maryland who got tired of having to change out of the sweat-soaked T-shirts he wore under his jersey, noticed that his compression shorts stayed dry. This was the inspiration to make a T-shirt using moisture-wicking fabric for athletic performance, and Plank founded the company on January 29, 1996.

The company is a supplier of a much wider range of sportswear and casual apparel. Under Armour began offering footwear in 2006, and continues to expand its offerings.  In fall of 2010, Under Armour began offering its first line up of basketball shoes. Under Amour released their running shoes in late January 2009,  the Under Armour Illusion which catches every runners attention.

Karhu

Karhu Running Shoes are built on this philosophy and the concept of natural momentum. First tested on the great Finnish runners Paavo Nurmi and Olavi Suomalainen, natural momentum is achieved with the incorporation of Karhu’s patented Fulcrum Technology. Karhu shoes are built with a Fulcrum that allows the foot to transition through it’s natural motion, providing an exceptional ride through the three phases of the gait cycle, as well as reducing wasted vertical forces while minimizing contact time of the heel on the ground. The foot does the work. The shoe is just along for the ride.

Karhu Running Shoes are equipped with Four types of Fulcrum technologies:  (1) Racer Fulcrum Ride: Karhu’s racing fleet is equipped with this one. Thinner and lightweight, as well as neutral, this Fulcrum is the definition of speed.  (2)  Fast Fulcrum Ride: This is the classic neutral fulcrum for faster training with less effort.  (3)  Fluid Fulcrum Ride: A nice twist on the classic neutral fulcrum with a touch more volume and lower to the ground for more torsional support.   (4)  Strong and Stable Fulcrum Ride: A new support fulcrum with an additional carbon for Hytrel midfoot plate for superior stability.

Karhu Strong

Karhu Strong Ride for Women's will surely be an eye candy.

One of these shoes will be launched in the Philippines soon.  Can you guess which on will it be?  Will it be Somnio in the Philippines?  Under Armour?  Karhu? Or Saucony?
