Oldest Marathoner Fauja Singh Runs His Last Marathon

Fauja Singh owns the record for being the oldest marathoner.  At age 101, he was still able to complete the London Marathon with a time of seven hours and 49 minutes last Sunday.

However, he also announced that the London Marathon 2012 will be his last marathon race.  He will still be joining the shorter races including a half marathon. In fact, Fauja was invited to join a vertical marathon this coming June in Taipei to climb 2,046 steps of one of the world’s tallest buildings called Taipei 101.

Singh turned 101 last April 1. He has taken part in eight full marathons in the last 12 years.

The Guinness Book of Records has refused to name him as the oldest marathoner as he does not have an original birth certificate.
