Run for Marikina River 2012 3/5/10K (Marikina)
Mayor Del and PCCI-Marikina are pleased to invite you to attend the much awaited “Run For Marikina River” on December 9, 2012, at Sumulong Hi-way in front of Mcdonalds and Toyota Marikina, from 4:00am to 8:00am. This year’s event aims to bring together runners from different sectors both public and private, families, etc. for a 3k, 5k, and 10K scenic run in the Shoe capital of the Philippines. We are expecting at least 50,000 participants for this event.
Because running, as a form of sport is so intrinsically powerful, it has the ability to shape a culture, heal a nation, and restore national pride. Hence more than the game, the city of Marikina is in it for greater good. We do hope you can make time in your busy schedule to attend this activity and share your ideas on this topic for the development of our beloved city.

Hi organizers,
It’s a good event and assuming a run for a cause; however, I think you should consider to reschedule this event for it to be feasible since Dec. 9 is Milo Marathon Finals and is cheaper.
Probability is reasonably possible that few will participate in this good cause event.
Just my suggestion, don’t mean to offend.

Yup, I agree masyado mahal considering singlet lang and bib yung kasama(Unless okay yung freebies). Very unlikely yung 5,000 participants kung ganito yung pricing.

Hindi po ba mas okay po kung magrequire sila ng students from all marikina city schools, private or public?
Running for marikina river is not just an exercise but also to help clean the river itself.
Katulad na lang nung Run for Ilog Pasig 2011..some of the universities required their students to participate in such event for their NSTP program.
It did not only help our nature but also help students pass their NSTP

sana naman after nun run na ito ndi ko na maikita yung ilog natin na madumi, kahit walang run madumi yun jogging lane, pano kami nag training nyan kung yung daily lane is madumi.. kakahiya naman sa mga bibisita stin

wala pa din size medium or small sa sport center… at wala ding singlet…. sana maaga mag inform kung ano ang plan sa race na ito. If ever na ma postpone sabihin na agad para makatakbo sa iba.. definitely i will run pa rin dito..wag lang tatama sa ibang mga run na previously registered na..

namove nga ba yung run? nakapagregister na ako rito.. baka naman dumating ako ng 4AM dun sa site tapos walang ibang tao kung hindi ako lang.. heheh
Good day. This looks like a run with a worthy cause and one I would consider joining. I read the organizers Hope to attract 50,000 participants. However, I was disappointed to note that the only available registration sites are all within Marikina. Where is everyone else supposed to register. Not everyone has the luxury of time to make a trip there just to register and pick up the race kit. And many people would want to see the singlet and be able to decide what size to get. It would be a pity for many people to go all the way there only to find out that there is no stock of the race kit or that their preferred singlet size is unavailable.
Unless the organizers think that they can get 50k runners from their area alone, I think it would be in their best interests to set up registration sites in other areas around Metro Manila. Doing so will definitely contribute towards it’s being abe to get the number of participants they are seeking.
I will monitor this event for updates from the organizers. Given the current setup though, I am a doubtful participant. I went over the. 10k route and it takes the runners down the steep portion coming down from Aurora Boulevard. Will all vehicular traffic be re-routed? I Hope so in order to ensure the safety of all the participants,? especially from large vehicular traffic.
I Hope the organizers will be able to make adjustments so more people will be able to participate. By the way, good job in indicating the kilometer markers on the route maps. Well done! That is sorely missing in other race route maps. Such a simple and easy thing to do but neglected by other race organizers. Ihope there will also be markers along the route. So easy to do and this will really help the runners pace themselves and know their lap times/splits. Not everyone has a GPS watch, you know?
I wish this cause-worthy run the best of luck! I Hope to be one of the many participants. I joined the run for the Pasig River a few months back. I Hope that t organizers will use one form of electronic timing system so the participants can see their official times online.
