Garmin Forerunner 920XT Provides Detailed Metrics for Multisports

The Garmin Forerunner 920XT takes it to the next level. Forerunner 920XT is the ultimate triathlon watch that provides metrics for running, biking and swimming. Plus it can be connected with a smartphone and has Wifi features. Available in black/blue or red/white, the Garmin Forerunner 920XT costs $449 without a heart rate monitor and $499 with the HRM.

Foreruner 920XT looks like the previous model. It has a large sceen and a big body. But it does looks sleek this time since it is 15% lighter and 18% thinner. It has a high-resolution color display and daily activity tracking.

The features are just insane. It’s really an all-in-one watch for endurance and fitness enthusiast. From basic features like speed and distance, it also tracks advanced features like running dynamics and VO2max.

  • Running dynamics include cadence, vertical oscillation and ground contact time
  • Offers VO2 max estimate, race predictor and recovery advisor
  • Features swim distance, pace, stroke type identification, stroke count, drill logging and rest timers
  • Smart notifications let you see email, text and other alerts on your watch
  • Connected features: automatic uploads to Garmin Connect™, live tracking, social media sharing

For running, it has the following new features. These features are available when paied with HRM-Run™ monitor.

  • cadence (total steps per minute)
  • vertical oscillation (amount of “bounce” in your step)
  • ground contact time (how much time your foot spends on the ground during each step).
  • metronome feature with vibe and audible alerts to guide your cadence training.
  • For ultra runners the Forerunner 920XT offers an UltraTrac mode, extending its up to 24 hours in GPS mode battery life for up to 40 hours.

For swimming, the Forerunner 920XT has the following features:

  • Water rated 5 ATM
  • swim metrics for training in a pool or open water
  • swim distance
  • swim pace
  • swim stroke count
