Have A Smooth Running Experience with Schick

I was invited by Schick Philippines to take the Schick Exacta Parkour Challenge. Parkour is also known as free running. I had been running for 8 years and free running sounds exciting.

Parkour is an art of moving one’s body from one point to another in the most efficient way possible. It includes running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, rolling and obstacles. Watching the guys doing parkour is breathtaking. They make it look easy during the demonstration.

Parkour here I go!

For the first activity, the guys at the Ninja Academy gave us tips on how to tackle a clean roll, a fast vault, a long jump and climbing a wall twice my height! These are basic moves and skills for parkour. Piece by piece, we were given a chance to master each technique. The vault and long jump was easy for me. But I had the wrong technique when I do the roll and I struggle to climb over the wall.

The next activity is to complete an obstacle course using the parkour techniques I just learned. I was able to pass through the jumps and vaults. I was moving like a kid. I was enjoying each move and it feels like I was just gliding smoothly on each obstacle. However, when I was faced with the wall, I was back into my current age and struggled to go over it. I never got over after 3 tries on that wall.

However, the whole experience in the Schick Exacta Parkour Challenge was just liberating. I was once again the kid jumping over rocks, climbing trees, hanging on branches and freely running across an open field.

Free running is completely different from running. The freedom of moving all around the place smoothly is a whole new discipline. I did, however, find a similarity. They both made my muscles painful the following day!
