Isidro Vildosola on Marathon Championship for Paralympians

Isidro Vildosola, one of the country’s best marathoners and a paralympian was granted a coveted slot to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Marathon Championships, part of the London Marathon 2015 on April 26.

Philippine Airlines has generously agreed to sponsor the round trip airfares from Manila-London-Manila of Isidro Vildosola and his coach for their participation in the event.

From the Let’s Get Isidro to a Marathon Championship for Paralympians FB Page:

The Bayanihan spirit lives! As we write this, Isidro Vildosola and his coach Joel Deriada are London-bound, thanks to the generosity of Philippine Airlines (who sponsored their plane tickets) and of some 30 individuals/groups who believe in Isidro and support his dream of representing the Philippines in the IPC (International Paralympic Committee) World Marathon Championships 2015 taking place during the London Marathon this coming Sunday, April 26.

“Dahil sa suporta ninyo, naging posible po lahat ito. Gagawin ko po ang lahat na maging proud po ang kinahihinatnan ng laban ko,” said Isidro in a text message before boarding the flight. We’ll keep you all posted on his progress, especially on race day! Mabuhay ka, Isidro!

Isidro Vildosola finished the Virgin Money London Marathon on April 26 with a blazing time of 3 hours and 20 minutes! It was a valiant effort by Isidro considering he was running in 8-degree temps. The cold made him cramp in the last few kilometers and he had to stop a few times. The crowd cheered him on as he crossed the finish line. You made the Philippines proud, Isidro! Congratulations!

We, in the running community, are proud of you!

We hope that the Bayanihan spirit will continue to live as send more athletes, not just runners, to represent the Philippines.
