One Wish Granted and We Can Help Grant More!

Last Month, we have granted a simple wish of one of the kids from Make A Wish Foundation. Jobert is a 6-year old boy who has lymphoblastic leukemia – an acute form of leukemia, or cancer of the white blood cells, characterized by the overproduction and accumulation of cancerous, immature white blood cells.

We want to get to know Jobert and plan a simple activity for him and eventually surprise him with his wish. We decided to gather with runner and biker friends for a picnic at UP Sunken Garden one Sunday afternoon.

Make a Wish Philippines Read along

The little boys had a read along about The Bears Picnic and The Bike Lesson by The Berenstain Bears. Jobert was a little shy to join so he was invited to check road bikes owned by friends who came to join us. He was that interested in bikes and he started asking questions about the different bike parts.

He still feel a little awkward with all the new persons around him but he was sport enough to join the kids in helping him open up his present. And there, he saw the bike he wished for – a Ben10 Bike!

After a few minutes, Jobert is all smiles and ready to try on his new bike. He just had a quick break for a merienda and went riding again.

Jobert finally removed his mask and wearing a very happy face with his new bike!

Trying on his new ride with Kuya RJ!

Jobert told us that he already knew how to ride a bike. He used to borrow a bike form his playmates but then stopped when he got sick with leukemia as he can no longer walk. Now, with the treatments, he’s back on his feet and ready to learn how to ride again with his very own bike.

It was a well spent afternoon. Friends got together to make a simple wish came true.

Make A Wish Foundation Philipines is the partner beneficiary of Takbo.ph RunFest 2015. We can make a difference in the lives of the children, just like Jobert.

Granting a wish helps children feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their life-threatening medical conditions.

For many, the wish marks a turning point in the fight against their illnesses. Doctors, nurses and other health professionals say, the wish experience works in concert with medicine to make their patients feel better emotionally and even physically. That is why wishes matter. That is why we grant wishes.
