Saucony Pro Athlete Tim Reed Wins Back-to-Back Ironman 70.3

Cobra Ironman 70.3 was held last August 2 in Lapu-lapu City, Cebu.

The Cobra Ironman 70.3 in Cebu City is a premier triathlon event in the country with the largest participant turnout of 2,618. It is participated by both locals and international athletes.

This 2015, Saucony pro athlete Tim Reed Wins Back-to-Back Ironman 70.3. He finished strong first place  following his historic inaugural win at the Century Tuna Ironman 70.3 last March. He is an Australian athlete and reigning Asia-Pacific Ironman 70.3 champion. Once again showcased his prowess in speed and endurance as he crossed the finish line in an outstanding 3:46:03 record time.

“The heat and the humidity just make it really difficult. But you know the toughest races are always themost memorable and it was such a world-class field today,” says Reed. Besting world-class triathletessuch as Craig Alexander, Brent McMahon, Pete Jacobs, and Luke McKenzie, Reed says his biggestcompetition was fellow Aussie and best friend Tim Van Berkel, who finished second for the men’scoveted title. Reed crossed the finish line two seconds ahead of Van Berkel in what Reed considers as“one of the toughest battles” he’s ever had.On his first race in Cebu, Reed says that his favorite aspect about the course was the crowd, adding that“The most incredible feeling [was] hearing the crowd just yell, sing and dance, and you know you’re hurting so much but I couldn’t help smiling because the kids out there were just having such a great time.What a wonderful experience.”

Finishers in the relays include Saucony athletes John Chicano fromthe Philippines and Sam Betten from Australia.
