Choosing the right shoe is quite challenging especially if you have just started to add running in your fitness routines. Luckily, there are lots of trainer shoes in the market that are lightweight and comfortable wear. One such shoe is the Skechers GOrun 400, an affordable training buddy with minimalist construction.

Currently sold at PHP 3,995 for men’s and PHP 3,890 for women’s, the Skechers GOrun 400 combines comfort and performance that will surely fit your active lifestyle without breaking the bank.

Skechers GOrun 400 Technology

The shoe is equipped with Skechers’ newest technology such as the updated midsole made from the brand’s 5th generation material for consistent energy return and maximum comfort. The GOrun 400 also has the Goga Run insole for better shock absorption and a biometric midsole design for support and stability.

The GOrun 400 is also very comfortable to wear thanks to a well ventilated upper design composed of layered mesh that promotes superior breathability. Putting the shoes on is also very easy because of the Quick-Fit Portal found in the heel.

Comfortable and Lightweight

This lightweight shoe weighs approximately 8 oz or 227 grams for men’s per one-half pair of size 9 US shoes and 5 1/2 oz for women’s per one-half pair of size 7 US shoes.

Whether you are training indoors on a treadmill or outdoors on the road, the GOrun 400 is a perfect partner. Skechers have also fitted its sole with its trademark Goimpulse sensors to give runners a better sense of ground feel without compromising responsive traction.

First Impression of the Skechers GORun 400

My first time wearing the Skechers GORun 400 was during the Color Manila Black Light Run held in Alabang last May 27. It was a drizzly (and muddy) night run attended by some 10,000 runners. I joined the 10 km distance whose route traces the flat streets of the renowned southern business district with some rolling segments.

Running at night with minor rain showers was a completely different experience especially for my feet. When your shoes and feet are wet, you cannot help but feel some discomfort. Luckily, the GORun 400 helped alleviate some of those pain points.

Despite running on slippery roads, I was able to run at my usual pace thanks to the GORun 400’s incredible grip. Because of its great fit, I did not feel that my foot strikes were off. At the end of the race, I was worried I may get blisters from my wet feet. Fortunately, there was none.

My shoes also got submerged into about 2-3 inches of mud, since the event grounds become muddier. It’s simply one of the processes you have to go through to get your medal during the event. The next day, I have to wash off the mud off the GORun 400. Cleaning it was a bit easier; especially the mesh upper.

Overall, I was impressed by the shoe’s comfort and how well it performed given the unusual circumstances it has to go through.
