Getting an Upgrade at Successful Living Summit Manila

I was invited to attend the Successful Living Summit 1 (SLS 1) at the Grand Marriott Ballroom. It is a three day intensive seminar that aims to bring out the best in an individual. Can 3-days of Successful Living Summit Manila really make a change in a person? Here’s what I found out.

What’s new?

When I got the invite to the Successful Living Summit Manila, I was hesitant to sign up. It is hard to commit to a 3 day seminar that doesn’t have the details on what exactly will happen. It only claims a life changing experience for those who will attend.

What change do I need? I feel OK with myself and life in general. I have attended several seminars and retreat in the past. What is new to learn? Why not just reread those books or just open my previous notes.

Nonetheless, I decided to join and find out for myself.

Successful Living Summit Manila – Day by Day Account

DAY 1. I arrived at the seminar without knowing anyone. There were more than 90 attendees. The first part of the sessions were mostly long introductions and ground rules. Since the SLS 1 starts in the afternoon, I felt sleepy after a few hours. It was mostly just sitting down and listening to the speaker.

Things got better when the activities needed me to be with a partner or with a small group. At least I don’t have to simply sit down and listen. I get to stand, talk and be acquainted with new faces.

At the end of Day 1, I did get a few insights but I felt it was nothing spectacular. Yet…

DAY 2. Here is where things get interesting. We became more comfortable with each other and more people opened up. Once a participant opens up, the speaker is really great in leading us to a new insight. It leads us to see and think differently. And this is where change begins.

Personally, I find some sessions to be really life changing. While some of the sessions just doesn’t appeal to me. Even the background music doesn’t seem to make sense sometimes. We don’t have handouts nor can we use our mobile devices to take down notes. But I did make a mental note of those sessions which really strikes me. Unfortunately, I cannot share them here. You have to attend to discover them for yourself.

DAY 3. Graduation day. But before that, we had a few more sessions. The best was saved for last since I did enjoy the last activity. It was like a dance party but it is something I will always reflect upon.

I started Day 1 without knowing anyone, but by the end of the 3rd day, I made lots of friends. Thanks to my small group and to the people who shared their time and thoughts with me.

Successful Living Summit Manila – My Personal Thoughts

The Successful Living Summit Manila is not simply just a leadership seminar or a life improvement retreat. The topics in SLS 1 cover a lot of things. It includes topics on family, personal development, goal setting, self improvement and maybe a lot more. It’s a lot to be covered in just 3 days. Having too much information can be overwhelming and it feels like everything is just scratching the surface with little impact.

The SLS 1 affects different people in different ways. For me, it was like a reminder of what I have read or heard before. I mean, we always hear people tell us to reach of our goals, to never give up, to have that whatever it takes attitude. But to have someone really, as in really, tell you those words in your face is totally different. It’s a strong image that keeps flashing back at me to remind me of my goals. As a result, I printed out the face of the speaker and posted it in my desk! It is like hearing him give me that push everyday for the rest of my life!

For the other attendees, the entire SLS 1 was life changing. It is like they have been given a new life. I find it similar to watching a telenovela drama where others are already crying in one of the episodes, while I was simply sitting and wondering if I missed a scene.

Like I said, there can be too much information for a 3 day event. But at the end of the SLS 1 training, I wrote down 6 key items. These are the things I will truly be thankful to Successful Living Summit. Again, I cannot share them with you. You have to attend to know them for yourself.

This Successful Living Summit was the first one conducted in the Philippines. It has been conducted several times in the US already and I am a proud member of the first batch of Successful Living Summit Manila. There will be more SLS 1 trainings happening in the future. Be sure to follow their Facebook page for updates.

And if ever you will attend, I encourage you to open up. It is when you open up that you get the most from the seminar.

Thanks to the organizers and to the people behind SLS 1. Thank you also to my small group a.k.a. Forever22! Hehehe…
