Color Manila Run Challenge Race Recap

It was my first time to join Color Manila Run Challenge and I’m glad I did. I woke very early to meet friends in McKinley West Park for our 10K run.

It was a good break as Z and I were there as participants and not for work (as part of the organizing team for me and hosting for Z).

Color Manila Challenge Race Review

With Franc and Z at the starting line

The race started at 6am and runners were released by waves. As this leg was a CM challenge run, we’re expecting some obstacle along the route. Obstacles were placed inside McKinley West Park which covers the first and last 2 kilometers of the run.

We had to skip an obstacles as runners are building up, happily waiting for their turn. We just passed by them and continue with our pace. As we were out of Lawton, we were greeted by some runner friends who were making their way to the 42k u-turn for the Milo Marathon Elims as we are sharing the same lanes with them.

We then made a left to Bayani Road. It’s been years that the three of us ran this road. This used to be a training ground back then when most of the events are still held in BGC. We missed the rolling hills here! The route also took us until C5. We were glad that it was not so hot during that day but still thankful for cold water supply along the route to keep us hydrated.

There was a bottle neck going back inside McKinley Park West in McWest Boulevard, from Lawton as there were more runners using just one lane. As we enter the park, a bulk of 5K runners were just heading out to Lawton/ Bayani. It was a busy road but it then cleared out as we were in Le Grand Avenue. We did the last remaining obstacles including the big, tall inflatable slide by the finish. We looked like messy kids but happy ones!
