One of the much-awaited running event, the 7-Eleven Run 2019, is happening on February 3 across the three major metropolis in the country- Manila, Cebu and Davao simultaneously. This time the organizers are adding a 32K category and even has a few surprises to its runners and podium winners.

The Luzon leg will be held in Filinvest City grounds in Alabang, Muntinlupa. Meanwhile, the Visayas leg will be staged at Cebu Business Park and the Mindanao leg in SM City Davao.

Now on its 7th year, the 7-Eleven Run 2019 is expected to draw in thousands of runners of all fitness levels. The organizers expect that the event will exceed last year’s total of 25,000 participants for all three legs.

7-Eleven is also giving away PhP 500,000 cash incentive to whoever could break the national record for the full marathon. As it stands, the 42K record for male runners is held by Eduardo “Vertek” Bautista at 2 hours 18 minutes and 44 seconds which he posted in 2004 during the Beppu-Oita Marathon in Japan.

Meanwhile, the 42K record for female runners remains at the hands of Jho-ann Banayag with 2 hours 44 minutes and 41 seconds which she set during the 2007 Southeast Asian Games in Thailand. Mary Joy Tabal, however, ran a faster 2 hours 43 minutes and 31 seconds during the Ottawa Marathon last 2016. It remains unclear if the Philippine Athletic Track and Field Association (PATAFA) has recognized Tabal’s feat as part of the national record.

7- Eleven Run 2019 Prizes

Much like its previous editions, the 7-Eleven Run 2019 is also giving away a hefty sum of cash prizes across its different categories. Below are the individual cash prizes from 3K to full marathon.

Aside from cash prizes, the overall top three finishers for the 21K, 32K and 42K categories will also be given a chance to run in one of the international marathons in Asia. Last year, the overall winners of the half and full marathon event were sent to compete at the 23rd Jeju International Tourism Marathon Festival in Jeju, South Korea. Many of the Filipino delegates secured podium finishes during the said event.
