Saucony Brings Back its Runner from 1994, the Aya

Even in 1994, running authority Saucony has been ahead of its time. A few decades ago, the brand released the Aya, a lightweight running shoe made to beat PRs of the triathlete champs who wore it. At that time, the Aya was created with a design and tech never-before-seen on road runners in ’94, living up to its name which means to “run swiftly”.

The Aya’s unique details set it apart from other iconic shoe styles from the brand such as the Jazz or the Shadow. This is a timely return for the ‘90s icon as the retro fashion trend is making a major comeback even in the sneaker scene. The Aya is once again making headlines for its vibrant blue-and-white hues over its timeless silhouette.

Today, the Aya features reduced weight, enhanced flexibility, and breathability made it a welcomed companion to the performance-minded runners looking for shoes to wear for tempo training or racing—10Ks to marathons. Its multitude of lacing options means the fit is just right for a truly responsive ride.

Reborn to a new generation of doers, this reincarnation is light, bold, and ready to take flight once more. Its overlays and midsole come in white while the synthetics and glossier details arrive in bright blue. Its distinctive feature is still the woven stability strip as seen in the ankles to the toe, making it the lightweight choice for runners then and now.

The Saucony Aya is now available at Saucony Concept Stores in Glorietta 3, Trinoma, the newly-opened Ayala Malls Manila Bay, and select Sneak Peek stores. Visit facebook.com/SauconyPhilippines and follow @sauconyoriginalsph on Instagram.
