Huawei Band 6 Review

The large AMOLED screen is a big plus for the Huawei Band 6. The size and bright display really stands out compared to other competing brands. The touch interface is very responsive and smooth giving it a smartphone-like experience.

For an average user, the battery life should last for 14 days. It means less time on the charger and more time on your wrist. Currently, I am using it at maximum brightness and with the 24/7 heart rate monitoring enabled. So far, the charge drops around 11% after a day. This can last 9-10 days if used intensively. That is still great. However, it uses a magnetic charging thimble that is specific to the Huawei Band 6. So be sure not to lose it.

The Huawei Band 6 doesn’t have a built in GPS but it can be linked to a GPS enabled phone. For runs, I tried using it without a phone. It still tracks my runs with the distance, pace and time displayed on the screen. It provide alerts every time I reached 1 kilometer and a badge for logging my longest walk using the Huawei Band 6!

The all-day monitoring can be overwhelming since there’s too much data to look at. But having a big screen like in the Huawei Band 6 makes it easier to check them at glance. No need to scroll or tap on the screen several times to see other details.

SpO2 monitoring has become an important health indicator. In other bands, this feature needs to be manually enabled and manually checked. But Huawei Band 6 supports an all-day continuous monitoring of SpO2. Since it is continuous, it can generate an alarm with our SpO2 level is low so you can take action.

Huawei Health App Review

The Huawei Health App provides the summary and details of each workouts. From the Home page, you can see the days summary and workout records. You can also enable and calibrate other features like your stress level and 24/7 monitoring. And if you have unlocked some challenges, a badge will splash on our screen to congratulate you for a job well done.

The workout summary shown in the Huawei Health App has a clean and colorful interface with plenty to information to absorb. For runinng and walking, it has the usual speed and distance information. But at the same time, it provides the cadence and stride length. These are important information to help you improve your speed and endurance.

And here’s one screen I would like to check often: The Challenges. Unlock medals when you complete the challenges for the walking, running and cycling activities. I have unlocked the 10,000 steps medal so far and there are still more medals to unlock. Huawei would have new and special challenges posted once in a while, so you should check this feature regularly.
