Mizuno Precision 9: In for Review

My lightweight trainers already passed the 400 miles mark.  It has helped me reached my 2,000 km milestone last August.  Time to look for a new lightweight trainers.  I usually use them for 21K races and some LSDs.

Here is a lightweight trainer I received from Mizuno, the Wave Precision 9.

Mizuno Precision Wave 9

From the Mizuno website, the Wave Precision 9 is designed for neutral runners and provide soft cushioning and lightweight features.  Other shoe stores classify them for under-pronators as well.  The shoe weighs the same as my old lightweight trainers so it is a much welcomed shoe.  But will it perform just as good?

In 2008, the Mizuno Precision 9 earned the award for Best Shoe: Performance from Running Network.  It was lauded for its fit, weight and cushioning.  Here are some features of the shoes.

  • Mizuno Wave™ to provide optimal cushioning and flexibility.  The design allows impact to be distributed throughout the shoe.
  • AP MidSole. Lightweight and durable cushioning copolymer.  This is the secret for the lightweight features.
  • AIRMesh. Provides the utmost in breathability and comfort of the upper.
  • X-10™.  The most durable carbon rubber that allows for longer wear in high impact areas and supplements traction at heel strike.

most durable outsoles I have experienced.

I have run about 50 kilometers with the shoe already.  I’ll be back with a road review for the Mizuno Precision 9 soon.  Natz, aka i2runner, has a review of the same shoe in his blog.  Click here.

Here’s a trivia.  The Mizuno logo is called the “Runbird.”  It was first seen in 1983 and replaced the “M” logo used in running shoes that looks close to a competitor’s three-stripes logo.  Hmmm…  Does it look like a bird to you?  If it’s not, here’s why.  ”

The Runbird was created from geometry representing the orbits of three planets to signify the company’s expansive view and freedom of thought.”

Have you used the same shoe model before?  How is your run with them?
