Tips on How To Stay Healthy During the Holidays

The tips on this article is from Ms Fia Batua, a Licensed Nutritionist Dietitian and Fitness Coach. She conducts talks on nutrition and fitness and she one of our regular speakers for TAlKaBOut Fitness Workshops and Kickass Sports and Fitness Expo.

In time for the holidays, she shares how to survive all the holiday feasts. There’s really no reason NOT to eat and stay healthy. How To Stay Healthy During the Holidays

Tip #1 Remember and Stick to your Goals.

According to Ms Fia, 70% of your goal is all about Nutrition, “It means, food intake should be monitored. Enjoy the food on your plate but stick to your recommended portioning. Also, be mindful of your add-ons like cheese, gravy, sauce, cream, etc.”

She adds, “Don’t forget about your Goals. Stick to it. Not because it is the season of eating, you will just forget the guilt, and be weak.”

Tip #2: Take time to do your Workout.

Exercise. Yes, you read that right! “Let your regular exercise be part of your weekly routine. Atleast 2-3x a week 1hr cardio training like cycling and/or running.”

Ms Fia reminds us that, “Exercise is only 30%. And if you don’t have control over your food intake, honestly, 30% exercise won’t help you burn that too much calorie intake. So, make sure to focus on your meals.” That brings us back to Tip #1.

Tip #3: Maintain your weight.

With all the party and the eating, Ms Fia says, “It’s ok not to lose weight during the Holidays, but atleast maintain your actual weight.”

After the hardwork on maintaining that good weight, she adds to “Take a break and enjoy the day with your Family and Friends! No need to be so hard on yourself. Just make sure you won’t gain back everything you’ve already worked on losing.”

Enjoy the Holidays runners! Make sure to make healthy choices!
