Mt. Batolusong’s Natural Splendor

Led by Coby Sarreal and his experienced team from Trail Adventours, the group embarked on their journey before dawn, guided by local guides familiar with the mountain’s trails.

Mt. Batolusong is approximately more than 650 meters above sea level. It features a gradual ascent and several resting spots. Thus, making the terrain accessible for beginners while still offering a challenge to more experienced hikers.

The name Batolusong derives from the words “bato” (rock) and “lusong” (a large mortar stone), a nod to the area’s history where farmers once used large stones on the mountain to mill their harvest.

Personal Take of the TERREX Free Hiker 2.0

I was immediately struck by the adidas TERREX Free Hiker’s exceptional comfort thanks to its BOOST foam midsoles. The cushioning not only provides a soft landing, but also gives an energy return in every step which keeps your feet less fatigued even after miles of trekking.

The shoe actually uses a super-cushioned and durable thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) foam. In contrast, many hiking shoes in the market uses ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam. TPU, in general, has better energy efficiency, better support on the heel and arch, and provides a more stable platform.

Moreover, the shoes quite lightweight and agile which allows you to be quick on your feet whether you are doing uphill or downhill. I also appreciate that the shoes are a bit wide especially around the toe area. This gives your toes a enough wiggle room, but without compromising on the overall fit.

The Continental rubber outsole with V-shaped lugs re also a game changer on challenging mountain terrain. The shoe’s grip and traction are exceptional on almost any surface during the hike from rocky paths to grassy areas.

I also appreciate the GORE-TEX lining which will surely come in handy in keeping the feet dry during wet hikes. Despite having GORE-TEX the shoes are breathable enough that my feet didn’t feel hot after the hike.

A Must Have for Serious Hikers

Despite the need for a break-in period and some initial difficulty with lacing, the adidas TERREX Free Hiker 2.0 proves to be an excellent choice for long climbs, particularly in wet conditions. The shoe is available in high-cut and low-cut variants, catering to different preferences and hiking needs.

The adidas TERREX Free Hiker 2.0 is available on the adidas online store and retail outlets. The High Cut variant costs PHP 12,000, while the Low Cut is sold at PHP 7,000.
