Aquaman+: Aquathlon Meets Knockout Swim

SBR.ph and Swimjunkie.ph Join Forces for Aquaman+: Aquathlon Meets Knockout Swim

Two of the Philippines’ most respected names in endurance sport are joining forces. SwimBikeRun.ph (SBR.ph), founded by Carlos de Guzman, and Swimjunkie.ph, founded by Betsy Medalla, are teaming up for their initial collaboration event: Aquaman+, happening on November 23, 2025 at the Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub — a milestone in preparation for a major launch in 2026.

The event builds on the Aquaman Aquathlon 2025, now expanded with new race formats that unite the multisport and long-distance swimming communities in one major celebration.

Aquaman Distances: Olympic Format Debut

Headlining the race is the Aquaman 1000, the first Olympic-distance aquathlon under the SBR.ph series, featuring a 2.5K run – 1K swim – 2.5K run.

Also on the program is the Aquaman 500 (1.25K run – 500m swim – 1.25K run), a fast-paced race designed for both beginners and seasoned athletes.

For younger competitors, Aquakids categories (ages 7–14) return with age-appropriate distances, continuing the tradition of inspiring the next generation of aquathletes.

Introducing the 1500m Knockout Swim Challenge

Making its Philippine debut, the 1500m Knockout Swim Challenge is set to redefine swim racing.

The format:

Round 1: All swimmers complete a 500m swim.
Round 2: The field is halved; the faster group advances to swim another 500m.
Final Round: The remaining athletes face off in a last 500m sprint to determine the Knockout Swim Champions.

Run as a single round-robin open category, the knockout system breaks long-distance swimming into short, tactical rounds — keeping athletes under pressure, every second critical, and spectators engaged with the thrill of the “last ones standing” swim.

A Shared Vision

For Carlos de Guzman, Aquaman+ reflects the natural growth of SBR.ph’s flagship aquathlon series:

“We’ve always wanted to keep growing the sport, and teaming up with Swimjunkie.ph adds a whole new dimension. It’s a chance to connect athletes from two passionate communities — multisport and long-distance swimming — in one big event.”

Betsy Medalla, whose Swimjunkie.ph brand is synonymous with premier open-water events in the Philippines, adds:

“The Knockout Swim is a fresh racing concept, and what better way to showcase it than alongside Aquaman? It’s unique, exciting, and brings nonstop action for both athletes and spectators. We are thrilled to be introducing the first 1500m knockout swim at Aquaman+ this November at Vermosa. Calling on all swimmers, triathletes, and open-water athletes — we hope to see you there.”
