10K Training Plan Apps for Smartphones

So you finish running your 5K and want to go a little further. You can now start training for a 10K run.

Your smart phones can be your running buddy and can give you training programs you can follow for an injury-free training. These apps are also good if you are coming back to running.

10K Trainer FREE – Couch to 10K Training (FREE) – 10K Trainer is the easiest program to get beginners from couch potatoes to run a 10K in just 14 weeks. If you previously run a 5K, you can skip ahead and pick up where C25K app leaves off!

This proven 14 week 10K program is easy as it only lets you train for 3 times/week. It allow runners to slowly build endurance by walking and running alternately. 10K Trainer Pro – Couch to 10K Training ($3.99) – This is the Pro version on of the 10K Trainer FREE – Couch to 10K Training. Similarly, it uses the 14-week plan of blended walking and running.

10K Runner: 0 to 5K to 10K Trainer, Run 10K ($3.99) – 10K Runner is the most loved and popular 10K program. It is highly recommended by fitness experts and doctors.

You can goo from zero to 5K in 8 weeks and go from 5K to 10K in another 6 Weeks. It uses alternating walk and run intervals with the run segments gradually increasing over time. As you advance in your runs, you earn achievements and badges which will keep you more motivated. View in iTunes.

Bridge to 10K ($2.99) – This app is specifically designed for Ease into 5K app graduates. Pick up where the 5K app leaves off and get to running a 10K race with 6 weeks of training.

This app gives you prompts every time you need to change from running to walking according to the Bridge to 10K running plan. View in iTunes.

Ease into 10K ($2.99) – The Ease into 10K app training program is designed for beginners who are looking to run a 10K race. The first week of training starts with 3 minutes of running and a minute of walking, repeated for 5 times. This is the advanced training version of the Ease into 5K app.

Run 10K! Training plan, GPS & Running Tips by Red Rock Apps (FREE) – In Run 10K, you can either pick up where you left off with the “Run a 5K” app by skipping the first 4 weeks, or you can start from zero. The gradual interval training is designed for running 10K in 10 weeks. The easy program consist of 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week training. View in iTunes.

5K to 10K App ($1.99) – This app is a follow-up to the award-winning Couch to 5K training app. This is designed to continue the training experience for people who finish the Couch to 5K plan, or for those who are already 5K-ready.
